What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning, “The highest energetic vibrations in the Universe”. It is widely translated as "Universal Life Force Energy". The system of Reiki was created by Dr Mikao Usui in the 19th century. Reiki means 'Universal Life Force Energy.'

In the West, Reiki is used as a form of therapy, where light touch (or Reiki sent over a distance such as via video call - called 'Distance Reiki') creates harmony in the recipients mind, body and spirit. Originally, Reiki was used to heal oneself and further one's spiritual and self development. Healing others came about as an additional benefit.

The recipient can be a person, an animal, or even a situation. Reiki can be used on everything, including plants and technology!

Reiki is so simple yet incredibly powerful, working wherever it is needed on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. Reiki is transformative, clearing karmic patterns and enabling a stronger connection to one's authentic self.

Receiving Reiki is a gentle, soothing experience and a completely harmless therapy. During a treatment you may experience relaxation, warmth, tingling, an emotional release, other colourful sensations, or nothing at all. Reiki assists the recovery from any ailments the body is experiencing, and is a perfect therapeutic complement to any treatment already being received.

In Reiki Level One, the student receives an 'attunement' so they are open to receiving and channeling universal energy. The student then has the ability to heal themselves and other using Reiki.

Reiki Level Two is taught to those who have completed Reiki Level One at least 3 months prior. Here, the practitioner is attuned to channel higher levels of universal energy; is taught the sacred symbols, and learns how to send Reiki over distance and time.
